Recapping Casey Poe's official visit with Auburn football
After wrapping up a successful Official Visit at Auburn this past Father’s Day weekend, Casey Poe is off to Norman, Oklahoma for an Official Visit with the Sooner staff and players. Considering this will be his 5th visit to Norman, while also having five visits to Lubbock, Texas with the Texas Tech Red Raiders staff and players, one would be remiss not to ask if Auburn football has a measurable chance to land his commitment for the 2024 recruiting class?
The East Texas native hails from Lindale, a small town apart of the Tyler metroplex area, and is currently a student at Lindale High School. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound inside offensive lineman possesses the size and speed to play both the guard and tackle positions, putting up an impressive 40-yard dash time at 4.98 seconds per his Hudl athlete profile.
His strength measurables are also impressive for the incoming senior athlete, putting up a bench press max of 320-pounds, a squat and deadlift max of 600-pounds, and a power clean max of 335-pounds. Having another full season of High School football to play and develop, I imagine these numbers will increase as we approach National Signing Day for the 2024 class in mid-December this year.
The general consensus across multiple sites indicate that Poe had an incredible visit on the plains, and that Auburn possibly moved up a few spots. With no direct confirmation of this from the talented young man as of yet, I can only observe and report what I have seen on various socials and other recruiting and college sports news outlets.
With stiff competition ahead from other power five programs vying for this young man’s services come 2024, Auburn has a tremendous battle ahead, as Casey Poe has piqued the interest of many across the nation. Hopefully he will land with Walker White and Co. in the 2024 class at Auburn, giving fans much to look forward to, especially with a change of pace in recruiting offensive linemen on the plains.
