High profile Auburn target Martavious Collins decommits from Alabama

In this story:
Alabama has just lost the commitment of four-star athlete Martavious Collins.
Collins, the No. 174 overall player in 247Sports' 2024 composite class rankings, originally committed to the Crimson Tide back on July 20th, 2022. Since then, he's taken two unofficial visits to Auburn - one in September of last year and another on January 14th.
I would like to thank the whole Alabama staff for what they have done for me since my commitment,” Collins said in a social media post. “I truly appreciate everyone on the staff for believing in my talents. I am very grateful for the time and energy invested in me. Much love to the Alabama family and best wishes to all. After thoughts and prayers, I am going to focus on doing what’s best for my future and my family.”
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound athlete primarily plays tight end for Rome High School in Rome, Georgia. Both On3 and Rivals have him at the TE position.
Collins holds offers from 17 different Power Five schools (plus Notre Dame), such as Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Tennessee, among others.
