Carson Myers named SEC Pitcher of the Week

Following his first outing as a member of the team, Auburn Tigers pitcher Carson Myers has been named Co-SEC Pitcher of the Week along with AJ Causey of the Tennessee Volunteers.
Myers earned the acknowledgment following his dominant performance in Auburn's series finale against Eastern Kentucky on Sunday. In the Tigers' 9-1 win to finish off the sweep, Myers pitched six innings and held the Colonels scoreless. He allowed two hits and walked one batter while striking out eight. 51 of his 75 pitches were strikes.
“It was awesome,” Myers said after making his first start on Sunday. “To be able to play and put on this uniform was just awesome. To learn from my guys and the coaching staff, it’s what I could’ve dreamed of.”
Auburn head coach Butch Thompson has known Myers for most of his life. Thompson talked about how special Myers' dominant outing was for him.
“He’s earned this right, and he absolutely continued to pitch the way he’s been pitching recently,” Thompson said. “To track with a family for that long and to be that good of friends and then to see a day like today, that’s a surreal moment and a neat one for that family.”
Auburn will be back in action tomorrow when it hosts the UAB Blazers at Plainsman Park at 6 p.m. CT. The game can be streamed on SEC Network+ and the Auburn Sports Network broadcast can be streamed on the Auburn Athletics app.
