The Tigers have added another piece from North Texas.

Larry Nixon III, a senior linebacker transfer from the Mean Green, has committed to Auburn, according to his social media. Nixon is the second UNT transfer to commit to Auburn with wide receiver Jyaire Shorter choosing the Tigers earlier in the afternoon on May 16th.

Nixon appeared in 41 games over the course of four seasons for the Mean Green, collecting 245 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. In 2022, Nixon started all 14 games for UNT, racking up 105 tackles, 5.5 TFL and a sack.

The Auburn Tigers had ten players depart from the program during the spring transfer portal window, including three backup linebackers:

Quarterback TJ Finley

Wide receiver Tar'Varish Dawson

Wide receiver Landen King

Offensive lineman Colby Smith

Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba

Defensive lineman Tobechi Okoli

Defensive end Dylan Brooks

Linebacker Kameron Brown

Linebacker Desmond Tisdol

Linebacker Powell Gordon

The addition of Nixon is a big one.

Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings with a total of 18 commitments. Their nine four-star additions through the portal are tied for the most in the country alongside USC.
