REPORT: Luke Deal will return for his sixth season
Auburn fans will get to watch Luke Deal for one more season.
In his show with Auburn Undercover, The Real Deal, he announced that he will return for another season in Hugh Freeze's offense.
"My wife and I are here and we love it here. I’m blessed with another year of eligibility. I’m ready to lead this team next year," Luke Deal told Auburn Undercover. "I’m ready to lead this team next year. We’re going to have some serious dudes and we’re going to win some serious ballgames next year."
As any college player who was on campus during the 2020 season, due to COVID eligibility rules set by the NCAA, that season would not impact their eligibility.
Deal represented Auburn at SEC Media Days last season and was a key part of the leadership in the locker room this past season, his poise and physicality will help Auburn's offense in 2024.
This season, Deal played 231 snaps on offense, second most among tight ends.
Auburn's tight end room was consistently given praise from Freeze both regarding leadership and depth in the room.
Deal, Tyler Fromm, Rivaldo Fairweather, Brandon Frazier, and Micah Riley created one of the better position groups on Auburn's roster this season.
