Auburn football's most valuable players in 2023: No. 10 Alex McPherson

We continue our countdown towards Auburn's 2023 season with a ranking of their most valuable players.

Alex McPherson's Bio

- 154 pounds

- Redshirt freshman

McPherson bucks Auburn's trend of big kickers with the Carlson brothers having taken over the position for what was almost a decade. His smaller stature does not reflect his kicking abilities, however, as he's expected to be another automatic field goal specialist for the Tigers.

After committing to Auburn on July 6th of 2021, joining the 2022 recruiting class, Alex was able to win the kicking job over both Marshall Meyers and Evan McGuire both sophomores already on the roster.

McPherson logged stats in three games as a true freshman, putting up six field goals out of seven attempts, earning him an 85.71 FG percentage, hurling a 51-yard field goal as his longest for the 2022 season. This young man looks to be off to an already impressive start as a freshman and looks to have a promising career as an Auburn Tiger.

Some may be upset with a special teams player being ranked so high for Auburn, but McPherson's points he will eventually contribute to the team may end up being vital for the Tigers' success.
