Auburn 2025 commit Malik Autry stands out in Opelika spring game

Malik Autry stood out in his spring game Friday night.

The Auburn Tigers were early on Malik Autry and the lone commit of Auburn's 2025 class showed what he could do in Opelika's spring game Friday night.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman standout from his teammates with his towering size and large frame. With his height, he does a pretty good job at keeping his pad level low and engaging in contact with the opposing offensive line.

The Opelika offense ran the ball and threw a lot of quick passes but on plays where the quarterback didn't get off the ball immediately, Autry led the way with multiple pressures, some would have probably been sacks if it had been live, and had a pass breakup at the line. He consistently used leverage to get inside of the opposing linemen and used his length to create an interior pass-rushing lane.

Opelika's offense attacked the edges but when they aimed to attack the middle, Autry and his fellow Bulldogs were able to quickly shut down the running game.

At the next level, Autry could probably play multiple spots on the defensive line. If his feet develop, he could also probably be used as a defensive end. I believe I saw him at both a shade nose and a 3-tech in the scrimmage Friday night.

Autry committed to Auburn back in February and the local product has been continuing to emerge due to his elite size and play. With two more years of high school football left to play, Autry can become a headliner of Auburn's class.

For what it's worth, E'Mauri Smiley was very impressive Friday night coming off of the edge. His first step seems faster than everyone else. He picked up an offer from ULM after the spring game. Auburn invited him to camp earlier this month per his Twitter feed.
