Auburn quarterback target cuts list of schools to eight and sets commitment date

An Auburn quarterback target is set to commit soon.

Coach Freeze and his coaching staff have set their focus on the 2025 class, and one of the most critical positions to grab is a quarterback.

The quarterback tends to be the staple of the class and sometimes can get the ball rolling with an early commitment. Right after Walker White committed to Auburn in the 2024 class, we saw him start helping the coaching staff recruit.

One of the quarterback targets Coach Freeze has zeroed in on is four-star Husan Longstreet. He is fast, which would help him succeed in Coach Freeze's system. Longstreet recently cut his list of schools down to eight, including Auburn, Texas A&M, Oregon, UCLA, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, and Michigan. He is ranked as the 53rd best player in 247Sports 2025 class rankings. Steve Wiltfong just put in a crystal ball for Texas A&M to land the talented quarterback, and he isn't wrong often. He hasn't been to the Plains for a visit, but the quarterback from Corona, California, has a commitment date of April 14th, so if the staff is going to get him on campus, it needs to be soon.

Greg Biggins of 247Sports had this to say about Longstreet in his scouting report, "Longstreet has one of the strongest arms out West and one of the quicker releases to go with it. He generates a ton of velocity with little effort and is able to easily throw from different arm angles and is equally comfortable rolling out and throwing right or left. He has big hands and spins the football as consistently as anyone. He’s an improving athlete and uses his legs as a junior a lot more than his first two years of high school ball and looked very comfortable in zone read situations. He’s accurate to the show and intermediate levels of the field but can continue to improve his touch on the deeper throws down the field. He’s a very likable kid, a natural leader and a great teammate. He has a strong off the field work ethic and projects as a Power 5 starter with the talent to play for any school in the country."

Coach Freeze and his staff seem to be behind in this race, but if they want to get back in it, we need to see it happen soon.
