Arkansas podcast host sees Auburn matchup a winnable game

Auburn's 2023 schedule does not provide any favors for Tigers' head coach Hugh Freeze.

Games against Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M and LSU provide massive roadblocks in what could end up being a solid year one for Auburn.

Sometimes, however, with all of the fanfare and excitement, some of the "smaller" SEC games can get brushed under the rug during talking season.

Arkansas being one of them.

The Hogs dominated the Tigers last season right before Bryan Harsin was fired - in Jordan Hare Stadium no less. After having lost six straight games against Auburn dating back to the 56-3 thrashing in 2016, Arkansas could be looking to start a streak of their own in Fayetteville this fall.

Locked On Razorbacks host John Nabors recently released an episode detailing his reasons why he believes the Hogs could win 10 games in 2023.

He walked through the schedule and got to Auburn and Mississippi State.

Both of which he thinks are winnable games for Sam Pittman & Co.

"Hugh Freeze of course has been a lot more established than Arnett, and I think that Hugh Freeze might have success at Auburn - but I don't believe that right out of the gate that he's going to go out there and win eight to ten games, I don't think so," Nabors said.

Nabors believes that it's going to take a minute before the Tigers begin to take off - largely due in part to who they have under center in 2023.

"It's going to take a little bit to get it going. I also don't really see them having a quarterback, or at least an effective one to be able to get them to that level. I think that is a very winnable game against Auburn," Nabors said.

Michigan State transfer Payton Thorne is the current favorite to get the nod at quarterback over incumbent Robby Ashford. The Tigers' passing attack should be much improved with a plethora of transfer receivers and a refreshed offensive line.

On top of all of this, Auburn's scheme underneath Hugh Freeze and offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery should be more efficient and actually allow the Tigers to move the ball.
