California RB is confident in the upcoming matchup against Auburn

Jadyn Ott had some amped comments about Auburn during Wednesday’s player press conference.

The midweek mind games are in full swing heading into Saturday’s late kickoff with the Auburn Tigers poised to take on the California Golden Bears for their first road test of the season.

Leading up to this contest the usual press conferences have taken place during the beginning of the week with coaches and players alike sounding off in support of their respective squads. While some have chosen to remain humble in this approach, others have chosen to use their platforms to exude confidence, possibly even a bit too much.

Jadyn Ott, the Golden Bears starting option at running back seems to have chosen the later, expressing what some might call some incendiary comments aimed at the performance and traditions of the Auburn Tigers football program. When asked about the upcoming contest Ott responded with, “There’s a lot of focus on the name Auburn. But what I see on film is not really in comparison to what their name is. I just want to get that into my guys’ heads that a name doesn’t mean anything.”

These are powerful words by the sophomore running back, that some in the Auburn locker room might take a bit personally. There is likely no better way to place a target on your back then expressing this kind of comment ahead of a big game for both programs 2023 season, despite its non-conference nature.

Ott was not finished with his comments going on later to say, “It will be really encouraging when we do get this win.” After throwing gas on the proverbial fire that is the Auburn defensive front, it will be interesting to see how our Tigers respond to Ott on the field come game day this Saturday.
