Most media outlets project Auburn to finish somewhere between 6-6 and 9-3 this season.

After a disappointing 5-7 campaign in 2022, the Tigers are projected to improve underneath new head coach Hugh Freeze. Freeze has worked wonders during his first few months on the Plains, knocking it out of the park on the recruiting trail as well as through the transfer portal.

College football expert Tony Barnhart sat down with Zac Blackerby and Darrell Dapprich of the Locked On Auburn podcast to discuss how he believes the schedule will shake out for Auburn in 2023.

He doesn't see eight wins for the Tigers in Freeze's first season.

“I don't see eight wins there, quite honestly," Barnhart said. "But you know what? An 8-4, a 6-6 season can be 8-4 very, very quickly. Do you win the close games? Do you find a way to close out the close games? And that will be the key. I just think if you, Freeze, gets the quarterback position figured out, figured out, who does he like? Is it the kid? Is it the transfer? Is it Robby Ashford? I don't know. But until he gets that figured out, it's hard for them to move forward.”
