Demarcus Riddick flips his commitment to the Auburn Tigers

The five-star Georgia commit has decided to stay in-state and come to the Plains.

Hugh Freeze has secured the talents of his first five-star during his Auburn tenure.

Demarcus Riddick, a linebacker from Chilton County, decided to come to Auburn after a month or two of deliberation between Auburn and Alabama.

The decision comes on his mother's birthday, with her being an integral part of his recruiting process he honored her by announcing this date.

Riddicks talent as a five-star prospect is evident, and he had a stat line in his junior year to prove it. The rising senior totaled 109 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three interceptions, four pass deflections, and a forced fumble. He can play in the box as a middle linebacker, on the line as an edge, and has enough versatility to be productive in guarding wide receivers and tight ends.

The addition of the Tigers' first five-star has moved Auburn from 38th to 27th nationally, and 14th in the SEC to 12th. The average player ranking for the Tigers is currently 91.47 which gives the class a solid four-star average.

The next commitment might not be long as what many view to be the biggest target for Auburn, Perry Thompson. Thompson commits on the 29th, and like Riddick would be a five-star addition to the 2024 class.
