In this story:

From the Iron Bowl’s extensive recruiting visitors list, there’s much to discuss beyond big-time prospects Cam Coleman and Ryan Williams.

Here’s a breakdown of recruiting information that comes from firsthand information, plus a personal perspective of how recruits looked on the hoof, from the Alabama at Auburn game.

Favour Edwin, offensive tackle, McDonough (Ga.) Eagle’s Landing Christian - 2024

This young man’s recruitment is intense. Auburn is still, in my opinion, the team to beat based on our conversation. Clemson, Alabama, Florida, and several others are trying to persuade the 6-foot-6 and 295-pound offensive tackle that their school is the place to be instead of the Plains.

Edwin still chose the Iron Bowl for his Saturday visit and enjoyed himself. When I brought up the question of whether he’d take more trips, he provided me with a telling point within his answer.

“Official visits take up so much time!”

He is not sure if he will take more trips or not, but it’s possible. Personally, I believe AU has a sizable lead for Edwin based on our conversation. Considering Auburn’s need to balance out the offensive line depth chart and add more talent in general, that’s really good news for the Tigers.

I could be wrong, but I think he pops for Auburn before National Signing Day on Dec. 20.

DeAndre Carter, offensive line, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei - 2024 Auburn Commitment

If there’s a nicer 6-foot-3 and 340-pound person on the planet, I have not met him; smiling all the time. That’s ironic considering Carter is a bulldozer that’s coming to the Plains from one of the nation’s best prep football powerhouses.

I asked him a simple question. For a kid from Los Angeles, why Auburn?

“To be honest, I didn’t think I’d like my (Auburn) visit as much as I did,” Carter admitted. “I love it here.”

From my brief time chatting with the future Tiger, he made it extremely clear that the entire Auburn vibe blew him away and continues to do so. Carter could be committed to just about any school in the country but Auburn won out.

On the hoof, Carter also has one of the biggest chests a person will see. He’s imposing, to say the least (currently 340 pounds and carries it well).

Malik Blocton, defensive tackle, Pike Road (Ala.) High School - 2024 Auburn Commitment (pictured in article photo)

The 280-pound defensive lineman is confident that he can come in and play right away for the Tigers. Seeing his film firsthand, he’s probably right. Blocton is happy to be a future AU player and is chomping at the bit to get to the Plains and start working with the team.

In fact, he’s going to sign with Auburn on Dec. 20, National Signing Day, and then come be a part of bowl practices. He will not play in Auburn’s bowl game. That being the case, Blocton wants to become acclimated with Auburn’s practice regimen and be further prepared for the 2024 spring practice session.

Malcolm Simmons, wide receiver, Alexander City (Ala.) Benjamin Russell - 2024 Auburn commitment

Only spoke with him for just a moment. For one, really nice young man. For two, Simmons looks stronger than most wide receiver recruits listed at 165 pounds. I’ve said it before and I shall state it again, Simmons has far more talent than what the recruiting services are giving him credit for.

Demarcus Riddick, linebacker/edge, Clanton (Ala.) Chilton County - 2024 Auburn Commitment

Winner of the “Holy Cow who’s that?” award. Riddick is as jacked as a prep linebacker is going to be. When I saw the name badge, I was like, ‘“Oh, it’s the freak.’” Not only athletically gifted, Riddick is as good a linebacker as there is in the entire 2024 recruiting class regardless of state.

Instinctive, sudden, and a playmaker. Those would be good ways to define Riddick's game. Do not take it from me though.

If you’re an Auburn fan and have not watched Riddick’s film, make sure to check it out. Here’s a full prospect breakdown of Riddick with his film linked inside the article:

Walker White, quarterback, Little Rock (Ark.) Christian Academy - 2024 Auburn Commitment

If there's 2024 recruit that's trying to help his own cause more than White is by chatting it up with top prospects during a visit, I have not seen it. He's the ambassador for the Tigers when an Auburn coach is not there at that very moment.

In short, White gets it. He knows he needs as much help as possible to get Auburn to the Promised Land. I loved his energy and constant communication with all the top prospects.

Jalyn Crawford, cornerback, Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview - 2024 Auburn Commitment

A long-time Auburn commitment, Crawford is one of those individuals who loves to study what’s in front of him. He knows about the other top recruits across Georgia and beyond. With that, he’s excited to be a part of Auburn’s recruiting class and was as dialed into the Iron Bowl as any recruit in attendance.

Like many prep recruits, he needs to add more muscle mass to be an every-down SEC player. Crawford’s film does not lie, however. He has a chance to play early if he can put on some size between now and next fall.

Carda Smith, offensive tackle, Mobile (Ala.) Williamson - 2025

Only saw this young man and did not speak with him. That being the case, he is a really impressive-looking prospect. Curious to see his junior highlights and then see him during the spring camp circuit.

Devin Williams, cornerback, Buford (Ga.) High School - 2025

One of the nation’s best underclassmen cornerback recruits, Williams came to Auburn in time for all the recruiting festivities. He was active with the recruits and was smiling most of the day.

His recruitment is already in the big-time category and is an example of the type of recruit Auburn needs to consistently land to be an elite program once again.

There will be plenty of Auburn recruiting news coming during the next several weeks as Auburn Daily follows Hugh Freeze and the Tigers every step of the way!
