New England Patriots star and former Auburn DB Jonathan Jones receives community service award
The New England Patriots give out the Ron Burton Award every year before the season starts. This award acknowledges the wonderful acts that a player does to help not only the New England community but their hometowns as well.
Jones, who has been a Patriot since signing as a UDFA in 2016 has excelled both on and off the field. Jonathan created a foundation in which he has helped not only with youth football but also youth development.
The Auburn community has received these acts of kindness from Jones as well as the New England community. When in Auburn over Thanksgiving weekend he set up a tailgate in partnership with an Auburn community at the Auburn vs. Texas A&M game. This helped raise enough money to feed over 500 families in the surrounding area.
The Ron Burton Award honors the first Patriot ever drafted, and his legacy of giving back not only as a player but in his life after football. Jones has represented both Auburn University and the Patriot family well and deserves recognition for such generosity and kindness.
Jones said that the award was a great honor, and that "to be a part of someone else's success story is one of the greatest things you can do". Following in the footsteps of former players to win the award he hopes that he can share the lessons and wisdom that previous winners like Devin McCourty and David Andrews gave to him.
