PFF ranks Auburn football next to last in SEC ELO rankings

In this story:
Pro Football Focus does not think highly of Auburn.
At all.
According to their latest 'ELO' rankings, which ranks every single FBS Division I team in college football, the Tigers are the 40th best team nationally.
That places them at 13th in the SEC. Next to last only above Vanderbilt. This begs a very important question - what on earth are the ELO rankings?
According to PFF, "Like all ELO systems (including our version for the NFL), PFF ELO is an iterative system that updates each team’s rating after each game based on two things: how well they played against their opponent and how well they were expected to play against their opponent. The PFF ELO rating system measures the former using our unique offensive, defensive and special teams grades, while the latter is determined by the PFF ELO ratings leading up to the game and where the game is played.”
It can only be assumed Auburn's ranking is so horrendously low because of how poorly 2022 went. ELO doesn't seem like the type of ranking system that is valuable or reasonable at any point in the offseason; rather more of an in-season system that would honestly be best used after it had the time to collect data (several weeks in to the season).
