Robby Ashford took reps at wide receiver this week

In this story:
Robby Ashford is getting reps at a different position for Auburn.
Despite having played quarterback during his time at Oregon and through his first season with the Tigers, Ashford is now getting playing some time wide receiver for Auburn.
He spent a bit of time at WR during practice this week before the Samford game, but split reps with Holden Geriner at quarterback with the second-team offense.
Offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery has yet to find a rhythm with both Ashford and starting quarterback Payton Thorne through two games, prompting some questions about how Auburn is going to handle the position moving forward.
Hugh Freeze was asked straight up during Monday's press conference following the win over Cal if the goal is to unlock more consistency with the quarterbacks, then wouldn't it make sense to play just one?
"I do not like the way the other night went. At the same time, I do want Robby (Ashford) to get his touches," Freeze said.
Apparently this is one way Ashford can get his touches on the field.
The last Auburn player to convert from quarterback to wide receiver for the Tigers was Caylin Newton. Other notable QB/WR switches in recent Auburn history include Ryan Davis, CJ Uzomah, and Kodi Burns.
There's been success here in the past with converted skill players. How Ashford fares - if Auburn decides to move him - will be interesting to watch.
