In this story:

The 2024 Auburn Tigers’ recruiting class needs more offensive numbers and talent. Fortunately for Hugh Freezeand the Tigers, big-time offensive line recruit and current Texas A&M commitment Coen Echols is visiting for the Iron Bowl.

He’s the No. 215 recruit in the country according to the On3 composite rankings. There are good reasons for Echols’ high recruiting marks.

Watching this young man’s feet in space, his movements more closely resemble a tight end than an offensive lineman. He also showcases run-blocking skills that will translate to SEC competition.

Plus, Echols could be the nation’s most versatile offensive line recruit while playing top competition at Katy (Texas) High School just outside of Houston. As a senior, Echols played all of tackle, guard, and center.

More importantly, he did well at all three. To possess the mental knowledge of how to perform at each of those spots is incredible for a prep player. That’s where revisiting Auburn’s needs comes back into play.

It’s unusual for a high school player to be able to immediately compete for playing time as a freshman; especially an offensive lineman.

Today Auburn and its fan base have the opportunity to display why the Plains are a fantastic place for Echols to continue his football career and go to college. Perhaps Echols could come to AU and compete for a spot along the Tigers’ offensive front wall.

This is a big visit for Freeze and the Tigers. Echols is the level of recruit every SEC team needs in the trenches to win big, and his versatility provides more ways for him to help the Tigers. Auburn gets a chance to impress him today.
