National Recruiting Expert Predicts Auburn To Land Elite Standout Defender

The Auburn Tigers could land a solid defensive standout to the 2025 class.

The Auburn Tigers have picked up a prediction to land an elite defensive player in the 2025 class.

Already sitting with a top 10 class in 2025, Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers are trying to get more momentum on the recruiting trail as they battle to rebuild the roster.

On3 national recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong has put in a prediction for Auburn to land 4-star safety Eric Winters. Winters is a standout safety from Enterprise, Alabama. He is rated as a 4-star by all four major recruiting outlets.

“I believe Coach Freeze has the program trending the right way," Winters told On3. "Auburn has proved they can win at the highest level. I have an opportunity to be one of the people to help get this program back where this belongs, which is pretty special to think about.”

Winters is ranked as the sixth best safety in the 2025 class by 247Sports. On3 ranks Winters as the fourth best player in the state of Alabama. He's listed at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds.

If Winters were to commit to the Auburn Tigers, he'd join Devin Williams, a four-star cornerback from Buford, Georgia, as the other defensive back in the 2025 class.

Winters is also considering offers from Georgia, Miami, and Tennessee. Winters visited Auburn over the spring. According to On3, Winters has already built a nice relationship with new defensive assistant coach Charles Kelly.

Auburn currently is ranked as the eight best class in 2025. They have the third ranked class in the SEC.
