Baylor Lands Commitment from 2024 F Jason Asemota

The Bears secured their first commitment in the class of 2024 Saturday.

Baylor Bears men's basketball landed a major commitment Saturday, as 2024 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix, AZ) forward Jason Asemota announced his pledge to the team.

The 6-8, 190-pound forward is the first commitment in the class of 2024 for coach Scott Drew and the Bears. He made an unofficial visit to Waco on May 17 before making an official trip back to campus on Friday.

He wasted little time after the second visit to commit. Asemota chose Baylor over elite programs like Auburn, Kansas, Illinois, Texas Tech, Ohio State, TCU, and others.

Asemota now helps boost a solid future for the Bears, who had already received commitments from 2023 talents Ja'Kobe Walter and Miro Little.

Baylor will welcome a slew of talented new 2022 commits this season, as Keyonte George, Joshua Ojinawuna, and Dantwan Grimes are all set to join the roster.

The Bears return important contributors like Adam Flagler and Flo Thamba for next season after losing Jeremy Sochan, Kendall Brown, and James Akinjo to the NBA.

The addition of George along with both L.J Cryer and Langston Love returning from injury gives the Bears a major boost to the backcourt after being a team that was plagued with injury last season.

Adding of player of Asemorta's length and skill would help the Bears stay atop the country's list of best programs for the foreseeable future. Baylor is aiming for its third-straight No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament next March and a second national title in three seasons.
