The Baylor Bears lost nine shots on their first-round score and finished in a tie for 20th place after two rounds of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships on Saturday at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Bears have one more round on Sunday, during which they have to move up the leaderboard to continue to play.

Baylor shot a 22-over-par 310 on Saturday, nine shots worse than their 301 on Friday. The Bears are now at 35-over 611.

After Sunday’s third round, the NCAA will cut the field to the Top 15 teams. For the Bears to make that cut, they’ll need to make up at least eight shots. Knotted in a tie for 14th were San Jose State and Virginia.

Baylor was coming off a win at regionals, but the Bears have not been able to emulate that play thus far.

Britta Snyder had the best score of Saturday for Baylor, shooting a 74. She shot a first-round 83 and is at 157 after two rounds. Hannah Karg is also at 157 after two rounds. She shot a 77 on Friday and followed that with an 80 on Saturday.

Gurleen Kaur had the best two-round score for Baylor. She followed her 74 on Friday with a 78 on Saturday to finish at 152. She’s followed by Rosie Belsham, who is at 154 after rounds of 74 and 80, and Addie Baggarly, who is at 154 after rounds of 76 and 78.

Baylor is making its sixth appearance at nationals in history and coming off a 14th-place finish at last year’s championships.

If the Bears advance, they will play a final 18 holes of stroke play while the top eight teams advance to match play. The 72-hole champion will also be crowned that day.

The team national champion is crowned through a match-play format with teams seeded 1-8 based on stroke play results. The quarterfinals and semifinals take place Tuesday, while the championship match is scheduled for Wednesday.
