Boston College Men's Hockey vs. Vermont: Live Updates, Analysis for Game 1 of Series

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College men’s hockey’s two-game series against the Vermont Catamounts begins Thursday night at 7 p.m. inside Conte Forum.
There is no doubt about it. The Eagles (2-4-1, 1-1-0 Hockey East) need to get their bearings straight if they want to have a solid chance of being a postseason contender later down the road, because their current form is simply not going to cut it.
BC split its two games with Northeastern last weekend, both of which went into overtime, despite outshooting the Huskies 97-42 overall.
That could potentially prompt a goaltender change at some point, as sophomore Louka Cloutier started both of those contests while freshman Leo Henriquez rode the bench, so that will be something to keep an eye on over the next couple of days.
On the plus side, junior Dean Letourneau has started to round back into the player he was for the majority of last season, in which he totaled the second-most points in Hockey East.
He scored twice and notched an assist in the NU series, and his first goal was the game-winner of the initial contest, which came after he was benched for the latter half of the second period.
UVM (4-3-0, 3-1-0 Hockey East), meanwhile, is coming into the series after capturing two straight league wins over New Hampshire last weekend.
Below is a live thread of the matchup with scoring, analysis, injury updates, lineups, and more.

2nd Period
1st Period
- Dean Letourneau gets one back for the Eagles, as former BC defenseman Michael Hagens turned the puck over at the blue line, giving Letourneau a 2-on-1. He took the shot and it went right over Jacob Oster's left shoulder, pinging off of two posts before settling in the net. 3-1 Vermont [1:38].
- Jack Malinski goes top shelf from the slot and extends the Catamounts' lead to three, prompting a goalie change. That ends an extremely tough night for Henriquez, who looked to give the Eagles a spark in net. Unfortunately, the opposite happened, and Cloutier is now in. 3-0 Vermont [7:08].
- On the power play, UVM extends its lead to two with Logan Renkowski's rebound goal from just outside the crease after a shot from the point, which Henriquez could not secure. Jack Malinski and Jonah Aegerter were credited with the assists. 2-0 Vermont [8:35].
- 10:09 - Teddy Stiga heads to the box for tripping for the game's first penalty. The Eagles have been dominated in puck possession by the Catamounts through the first 10 minutes.
- The Catamounts strike first just over a minute into the frame, as Tyler Dysart clanged a shot off the right post and into the net past Henriquez. 1-0 Vermont [18:43].
- Freshman Leo Henriquez gets the nod in net tonight over sophomore Louka Cloutier.
Injury Updates
[If an injury occurs during the game, this will be updated]
- Forward Matias Vanhanen is out with injury, which brings Timmy Delay into the lineup. Freshman forward Brady Kudrick is back from injury, but the Eagles are still missing forwards Olivers Murnieks and Will Moore.
