Former BYU Star Fred Warner Will Play in His Second Super Bowl

Former BYU star Fred Warner will play in his second Super Bowl. Warner, a team captain, was pivotal in helping the 49ers overcome a 17-point halftime deficit to beat the Detroit Lions. After the 49ers allowed 24 points in the first half, they held the Lions to just seven points in a 34-31 victory. Warner led the 49ers with 13 total tackles including nine solo tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup.

Warner and the 49ers will play in their first Super Bowl since 2019 when they lost 31-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs. In that game, Warner intercepted Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the loss.

The 49ers will have a chance to get revenge against the Chiefs. The Chiefs beat the Ravens on Sunday to advance to their fourth Super Bowl in the last five seasons. The Chiefs, of course, are coached by former BYU offensive lineman Andy Reid. Reid has been the top coach in the NFL over the last five years.

Fred Warner, who was selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, has established himself as the best linebacker in the NFL.
