Best & Worst-Case Scenarios for BYU's 2024 Recruiting Ranking

Recruiting rankings are always a hot topic on signing day. With less than a week before signing day, there is more movement happening in the 2024 class than any recruiting class in recent memory. BYU is still competing for over a dozen recruits. BYU is swinging for the fences and competing for top prospects. Could they swing and miss? Of course, but they could also connect and hit some home runs. Today, let's take a look at the best and worst-case scenarios for BYU in the 2024 recruiting rankings.

For these scenarios, we're looking at only high school and JUCO recruiting. Transfer portal recruiting will not be included in these assumptions.

Last year, BYU finished with 180 points in the 247 recruiting rankings. That ranked 66th nationally and 12th in the Big 12.

Best-Case Scenario

BYU is still in the running for a dozen uncommitted players. They are also trying to flip a few commits of other schools. If a large chunk of those decisions go BYU's way, BYU would jump up the recruiting rankings. In that scenario, BYU's recruiting class would climb to 37th nationally. That would be the highest-ranked recruiting class since 2010. Last year, that would have ranked 7th in the Big 12.

BYU Recruiting Hot Board Leading Up to Signing Day

While this scenario isn't necessarily likely, it's certainly possible. And it's a sign that BYU's recruiting has taken a major step forward since joining the Big 12.

Worst-Case Scenario

As of this writing, BYU has 166 points and ranks 64th in the 247 recruiting rankings. Even in the worst-case scenario, BYU isn't done adding players. The Cougars will add three or four players, at minimum, over the next several days.

With those three or four more players, and after all of BYU's current commits get composite rankings, BYU would jump up to 190 total points. In 2023, that would have ranked 58th in the recruiting rankings. Even in the worst-case scenario, BYU's recruiting class will rank higher in 2024 than it did in 2023.

Most Likely

Recruiting is always changing by the day, but as of this writing, we expect BYU to add anywhere from 6-8 more players. Based on our most educated prediction of which players are the most likely to commit, that would put BYU's recruiting class at 197 points. That would have ranked 49th nationally last year. A top 50 class would be a great step in the right direction for BYU.
