BYU Opens as an Underdog Against Texas Tech

On Sunday, betting lines for the upcoming week in college football were released. BYU opened as a a four-point underdog against Texas Tech. This marks the fifth consecutive game that BYU has been an underdog.

The Cougars host the Red Raiders on homecoming weekend. BYU is still looking for its first win against a legacy Big 12 school. BYU is 1-2 in conference play with a win over Cincinnati and losses to Kansas and TCU. Fortunately for BYU, this game will be played in Provo. The Cougars are undefeated at home this season.

Texas Tech is 3-4 and coming off a loss to Kansas State. The Red Raiders have been snake-bitten with injuries at the quarterback position. Tyler Shough broke his leg earlier this year and is out indefinitely. Sophomore Behren Morton suffered a shoulder injury a few weeks ago and he re-aggravated the injury on Saturday against Kansas State. Morton was unable to play in the second half due to the injury - true freshman Jake Strong replaced Morton at quarterback.

Strong made some promising throws against Kansas State, but he also made costly mistakes that allowed the Wildcats to grow their lead. Strong threw three interceptions and he threw another ball that was dropped by a Kansas State safety. He looked like a true freshman playing his first college football.

Morton's status for Saturday has not been announced.

BYU and Texas Tech kickoff at 5 PM local time and the game will be broadcast on FS1.
