In 2022, he was credited with 26 total tackles, 20 solo tackles, and six pass breakups. In his career, he has totaled 75 career tackles with 53 solo tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack and 14 pass breakups.
According to Pro Football Focus, Garrett was targeted 47 times in coverage last season and he allowed only 22 receptions. That represents a reception percentage of 47%, the best mark among Weber's starting cornerbacks. He has allowed only two touchdowns in coverage in his college career, and he didn't allow a single touchdown in coverage last season.
Garrett is the third scholarship transfer to join BYU from Weber State since the end of last season. He joins fellow former Wildcats Eddie Heckard and Jake Eichorn. Garrett adds depth to the a BYU cornerback room that needed to add another veteran or two. Perhaps most importantly, Garrett is another veteran on the BYU defense that has experience in Jay Hill's scheme.
In total, he is the ninth transfer on the defensive side of the ball. He joins fellow transfers Jackson Cravens, Isaiah Bagnah, Wyatt Dawe, Nuuletau Sellesin, Crew Wakely, Eddie Heckard, Dylan Flowers, and AJ Vongphachanh.
