The college football season is fast approaching. On July 1, BYU athletics will officially join the Big 12. Shortly after becoming an official member of the Big 12 conference, members of the BYU football program will travel to Texas to participate in Big 12 Media Days on July 12. On Wednesday, the Big 12 announced the five BYU football players that will join Kalani Sitake at media days. The five players are quarterback Kedon Slovis, wide receiver Kody Epps, linebacker Ben Bywater, defensive end Tyler Batty, and punter Ryan Rehkow.

Transfer quarterback Kedon Slovis was named the starting quarterback after he impressed during Spring camp. The surprise on this list might be wide receiver Kody Epps. Epps entered the transfer portal after Spring camp before deciding to return to BYU.

Ben Bywater and Tyler Batty will represent the BYU defense. Batty and Bywater are two veteran members of a BYU defense that will feature a lot of new faces in 2023. It's not only the personnel that will look different for BYU, the scheme will too. BYU replaced its defensive staff in December, hiring former Weber State head coach Jay Hill. Hill and staff have relied on the transfer portal to turn over the roster in time for the 2023 season.

BYU will participate in the first day of Big 12 Media Days alongside Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Texas. The second day (July 13) will feature Cincinnati, UCF, Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.
