Weber State Transfer Marque Collins Commits to BYU

On Sunday, Weber State cornerback transfer Marque Collins committed to BYU. Collins, who has one year of eligibility remaining, played in more than 40 games at Weber State. Collins was on campus this weekend for an official visit and he committed after the visit. Collins will be a seventh-year senior in 2024.
At Weber State, Collins had five career interceptions. Going into the 2023 season, Collins ranked seventh in Weber State history in career pass breakups with 18. He has played more than 1,600 career snaps according to Pro Football Focus.

BYU had a lot of success with Weber State transfers Eddie Heckard and Kamden Garrett in 2023. Collins will look to continue that trend in the defensive backfield and he will compete for a starting spot right away. His knowledge of Jay Hill's scheme should help him get acclimated quickly.
Collins is the second Weber State transfer to commit to BYU in as many days. Linebacker Jack Kelly committed to the Cougars on Saturday evening. Kelly and Collins are the first transfer commitments of the 2024 cycle. The Cougars will continue to recruit the transfer portal over the following weeks to bring in difference makers. The greatest transfer need is at the most important position: quarterback. It's possible that BYU's starting quarterback in 2024 is not on the roster yet.
The next few days will be full in recruiting news. Wednesday is national signing day.
