Former BYU Football Commit and Now LSU Tiger Siaki Ika Enters Transfer Portal

Siaki Ika originally committed to BYU as part of the 2019 recruiting class before decommitting and eventually signing with LSU. After playing his Freshman season at LSU and participating in a national championship run, Ika entered the transfer portal on Wednesday according to 247Sports.

While the report claims Ika "is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal," Sports Illustrated has not confirmed whether Ika is officially in the portal as of Wednesday morning.
Ika committed to BYU early in the process - the Cougars were the first to identify Ika and extend him a scholarship. Ika decommitted from BYU early in the process (around one year before signing day) when some of the big names in college football started competing for Ika's services. Ika was evaluated as a four star recruit - his final five schools included LSU, Oregon, USC, Utah, and Florida.
Ika prepped at East high and his connections to the state of Utah could bring him back home. Whether he is interested in BYU or not remains to be seen. I can confirm, however, that BYU is interested. The Cougars offered first and adding Ika to the roster would make a lot of since as the Cougars will likely lose Khyiris Tonga to the NFL after this season. Ika also has longstanding relationships with head coach Kalani Sitake and defensive coordinator Ilaiasa Tuiaki.
While BYU didn't make Ika's top five at the time of his recruitment, Ika has voiced his support for BYU since arriving at LSU:
John Beck to Jonny Harline.... Still the greatest ending I’ve ever seen💯 #GeauxCougs https://t.co/N0obfXtKKD
