Four-Star Tight End Ryner Swanson Commits to BYU

For the second time in as many recruiting classes, BYU has picked up a commitment from a four-star tight end. On Thursday, California native Ryner Swanson announced his commitment to BYU over fellow finalists Texas, Oregon, Utah, and Texas A&M. He also held competing offers from Washington, Stanford, Ole Miss, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State among others.

Swanson recently took official visits to Texas, Oregon, and BYU. After taking an official visit to Provo, Swanson shut down his recruitment and committed to the Cougars. He will graduate in December and enroll at BYU in January.
Swanson can do it all from the tight end position. He's a dynamic receiving threat with soft hands and he's dangerous after the catch. He has all the talent to be a multi-year starter and dynamic weapon for BYU's offense at tight end. Aaron Roderick's offense is very challenging to defend when a tight end can be both a blocking and receiving threat - that's exactly what Swanson will bring to BYU.
If BYU is going to compete for Big 12 championships, it needs to win more recruiting battles for the top LDS players. Getting Swanson is the kind of recruiting win that, if done consistently, will elevate BYU in its new conference. Swanson had some of the top programs in the country vying for his services, but BYU recruited him well enough to get him on board. BYU's offensive staff deserves a lot of credit for their recruitment of Swanson.
Swanson is the seventh player to commit to BYU as part of 2024 recruiting class. He joins Siosefa Brown, Chance Harrison, Dallin Johnson, Enoch Watson, Adney Reid, and Thomas Prassas. He is the first four-star commit in the 2024 class.
The month of June is always a busy recruiting month for BYU. Month to date, BYU has received three commitments from Enoch Watson, Ryner Swanson, and Thomas Prassas.
