CINCINNATI — UC athletics announced a major donation to the Big 12 Day One Ready Campaign this week that's prompting some new names around the basketball program's facilities.

Wendy and David Herche made an undisclosed donation to the athletics department and will have their last name on Ed Jucker court at Fifth Third Arena moving forward, plus, the basketball practice gym will now be called "The Herche."

"The wording 'Herche Courtside' will prominently adorn the apron at center court of the Ed Jucker Court at Fifth Third Arena," The press release states. "The 'Herche Courtside' will be a premium seating area that surrounds the playing surface. Fans in this area will continue to have access to the Mercedes-Benz Club located inside Fifth Third Arena."

David Herche is the chairman of Enerfab, a local industrial services company.

"We are incredibly grateful and honored to receive this game-changing investment from Dave and Wendy Herche, which will specifically take our men's and women's basketball programs to the next level and help make our entire athletic department Day One Ready when we join the Big 12 on July 1," Director of Athletics John Cunningham said.

The court had to be redone ahead of graduation ceremonies in May.

Cincinnati lost a pair of home NIT games because of it, but now the program's surface is ready to roll for the Big 12.
