Weekly NET: Bearcats Clinging To NCAA Tournament Hopes

Cincinnati is one of five AAC teams in the top 100 of the NET Ranking.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats escaped with a crucial 54-52 win over SMU this past weekend to stay inside the NET Ranking top 100.

A stable spot in the top 100 prompts a return of the Weekly NET. Cincinnati is still clinging to NCAA Tournament hopes, but they have to make a move—starting this week.

Cincinnati is 85th in the rankings, the fourth-ranked team in the AAC behind Houston (first), UCF (43rd), and Memphis (46th). This week, UC plays at South Florida (158th) and Memphis at home.

Anything less than 2-0 would leave the Bearcats only one path to make the dance: winning the AAC Tournament.

That's the spot they are in right now with an 0-4 record against Quad 1 teams—while also having two Quad 3 losses.

Cincinnati and South Florida battle on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. The game is airing on ESPN+.
