Byrd: Don't doubt the Tigers' desire

If anyone thinks that the Tigers won't have the right mindset when they take the field Sunday then you don't know this Tiger team.

OXFORD, Miss.-- The Clemson baseball team dropped their fourth straight winner's bracket game after winning the opening game of a regional after they lost Saturday's game 6-1 to the Ole Miss Rebels.

But if anyone thinks that the Tigers won't have the right mindset when they take the field Sunday (3 p.m.) then you don't know this Tiger team.

“If you’re doubting if we want it bad enough, you’re talking to the wrong team," Grayson Byrd. "We want it bad, obviously. That’s what we came to Clemson to do. Our backs are against the wall a little bit, but we’ll get ready to go tomorrow."

The Tigers will arrive at Swayze Field tomorrow morning and will plan on spending the entire day, as the winner of the first game tomorrow will play at 9 p.m. tomorrow night. 

But if the Tigers are going to be at the ballpark all day tomorrow, they will need to change their approach at the plate.

“We need to understand that the plan is to be here for a while," head coach Monte Lee said. "That’s the goal. But we gotta worry about Game One first. We know what’s at stake. Our season’s on the line. We gotta be mentally prepared to be here for quite a while tomorrow and compete every inning. Some guys on the mound are gonna have to step up. Offensively I think we’ve gotta be a little bit better. We chased out of the zone quite a bit tonight. We need to be a little more disciplined at the plate.”
