With the NCAA Tournament’s Final Four approaching this weekend, we’re officially nearing the end of the season, and that means plenty of postseason showcases.

One of those is the NABC’s (National Association of Basketball Coaches) Reese’s College All-Star Game, which displays top senior talent from across the country.

This past Wednesday, the Clemson Tigers announced that star forward R.J. Godfrey was selected to play for the West All-Stars in the contest, and is just one of three ACC players to earn the honor, alongside Florida State’s Lajae Jones and NC State’s Quadir Copeland.

The 6-foot-7, 240-pound senior is coming off the best season of his collegiate career, as he put up 12 points (team-high), 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while starting 32-of-35 contests. He earned an All-ACC honorable mention and helped lead the Tigers back to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year.

It was especially a feel-good season for Godfrey, considering he transferred back to Clemson ahead of this past season in hopes of finishing his collegiate career off right.

In case you missed it, after playing a key role in the Tigers’ 2023 Elite Eight run in the NCAA Tournament, Godfrey decided to enter the transfer portal as a handful of talking heads were in his ear about NIL and opportunity. He ended up committing to Georgia, which was originally in his finalists coming out of high school, but it didn’t take long for the decision to feel off.

“I was like, ‘Man, what did I just do?'” Godfrey said at the 2025 ACC Tipoff, recalling a phone call he made to a former Clemson teammate after his first practice with the Bulldogs.

There was nothing specifically wrong with Georgia and his new beginnings. He started all 33 games and played more minutes in one of the NCAA’s most prominent conferences, the SEC, but it just wasn’t the same as his time at Clemson with head coach Brad Brownell.

So, when the moment the chance to return to Clemson surfaced, he knew exactly where he wanted to be. There was no second-guessing, no long recruitment process like the first time. It was just a pullback to the place that had always felt like home for the Georgia native.

Looking back a year ago, he was trying to figure out if he made the right decision. Now, he’s closing out his career with the kind of season he came back for in the first place.

The Reese's All-Star Game is scheduled for Friday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m. EST and will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium. The event will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
