5-Star Receiver Visits Clemson

Mike Matthews is the type of prospect that every team in the country will continue to recruit hard until they hear the word "no". It doesn't matter if your wide receiver room is full to the brim or bare to the bone, this is a guy that is on everyone's radar. Luckily, for Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney and offensive coordinator Garrett Riley, the Tigers haven't heard that word yet. In fact, it's just the opposite as the interest from both sides seems to be very real.
Matthews returned to Clemson's campus on Wednesday and appeared to enjoy his visit. The receiver told reporters from 247Sports, "It was good being at Clemson again. Truly a big family among the players and the coaching staff. Sitting down and being able to talk to Coach Dabo Swinney and being able to take in some wisdom from him."
Rated as the No. 6 overall player in the country, the receiver from Lilburn, Georgia is going to make news everywhere he visits. Those recent trips have included to going the campuses of some recognizable names including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee. Anytime those names are involved in a recruitment getting the parents on board with your school is going to a huge win in your favor. "Clemson continues to be consistently great," Matthews' father told 247Sports. "The coaches and staff have always shown us love and we always see why Clemson is such a unique place. We watched the team practice and sat down and talked with Coach Swinney, Coach (Tyler) Grisham, Coach (Garrett) Riley quite a bit. The program has a longstanding history for success and development of their players on and off the field. The current players were gracious enough to take time to hang with Mike and share their experiences. We appreciate their hospitality and time."
With the summer months approaching most big-name recruits will really begin to narrow the focus soon. Will this visit keep Clemson in the hunt or even towards the front of the pack? Right now that feels very likely.
