Updating Clemson's biggest recruiting targets in the 2024 class

In this story:
The 2024 class has a long way to go before it's finished, but with June visits right around the corner, it's a good time to take a look at where things stand. Clemson, currently ranked 19th by 247Sports in their class rankings, doesn't appear like they'll take a quarterback in this class, but they're in the running for some of the top-rated players in the nation.
As it stands, the Tigers have 8 commits: 1 TE, 1 CB, 1 S, 2 DL, 1 RB, 1 LB, and 1 K. Here are the three guys Clemson is counting on landing in this class.
Mike Matthews - Wide Receiver - Parkview
Mike Matthews is a 6-foot-0.5, 185-pound wide receiver from Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia. He is a consensus five-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 9 player in the 2024 class by 247Sports.
Matthews has been offered scholarships by pretty much all of the major college football programs, including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and USC. He is one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2024 class. A two-way player, Matthews also plays safety for Parkview. Clemson is the favorite to land him at the moment, but Georgia, Tennessee, and USC are pushing hard. He'll visit USC in June.
Sammy Brown - Linebacker - Jefferson
Sammy Brown, the 5-star inside linebacker from Jefferson, Georgia, is considered to be one of the top overall athletes to come out of the high school ranks in recent memory. He's put up incredible numbers both offensively and defensively on the football field.
Brown is a consensus top-15 recruit in the 2024 class, and has received offers from over 30 schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, and USC. Georgia is the favorite to land him, but Clemson is right there. The Tigers will likely need some help as Barrett Carter and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. are likely off to the NFL after this season. He'll visit Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and Oklahoma in June.
Eddrick Houston - Defensive Lineman - Buford
One of the most coveted edge rushers in the class, Eddrick Houston hails from perennial Georgia high school football power Buford where he plays both defensive end and tight end. At 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, Houston has the ideal combination of speed and power that every team would love to have. Georgia will be the team to beat for his services, but Clemson is making a strong push. Athens is just over a half-hour from Buford, but Clemson is close too. He's scheduled to visit Ohio State in June.
