When Will Clemson's Recruiting Momentum Pick Up?

The Clemson Tigers and their fanbase have gotten used to slower starts on the recruiting trail over the last few years only to have a predictable resurgence before Signing Day. The Tigers usually still end up amongst the top teams in the nation. However, after a couple of seasons where it feels like the program has appeared more vulnerable from an outsider's perspective, this start to the 2024 class is probably one that those invested in the Tigers' success would like to see improve fairly quickly.
Clemson currently sits at 14th overall in the On3 team recruiting rankings. With just 6 commits including (respectfully) a kicker the question, like a confused Sam Cooke, becomes "When will the change come?" In an interview, On3's Insider Jeremy Johnson gave his answers and they look to be encouraging for Tiger fans. When asked when he sees Clemson start to really "kick it into high gear" Johnson answered, "I think it's starting right now. They're really starting to wrap up their board and I do think you'll start to see some commitments pop here by the end of April, mid-May. Then you get into the official visit in June and I think you'll see a couple of guys pop after that. So it's coming! I can definitely sense the level of urgency pick up with this 2024 class for Clemson."
This article obviously comes on the heels of yet another disappointing quarterback decision when Air Noland chose Ohio State on Saturday but if Johnson's words are to be believed then there should be more joyful moments to offset these recent disappointments to come in the very near future. There are plenty of big names left on the board for Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff to hone in on and if we know anything about how this program has operated for the last decade it's that there won't be too many losses without a big win right around the corner.
