Braylon Edwards is a 5-11, 180 pound safety out of Duncanville, Texas. He was rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 173 safety in the class of 2026 per 247Sports. As a senior for Duncanville High School in the 2025-26 season, Edwards had 89 total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 11 passes defended, and two interceptions.
Colorado's 2026 Recruiting Class

Colorado’s 2026 recruiting class was not ranked very highly. According to On3, the Buffs have the No. 67 ranked 2026 class. There are a total of 18 high school commits, including Edwards. Only two of them are rated as four-star recruits: edge rusher Domata Peko Jr. and linebacker Carson Crawford.
With this few high school recruits committed in the 2026 cycle, the Buffaloes were especially active in the transfer portal. They have 43 incoming transfers. A complete roster rebuild through the portal.
Colorado's Transfer Portal History

Colorado has seen the ups and down of being this reliant in the portal since coach Deion Sanders took over in 2023. Let’s start with the ups.
The two most prominent Colorado players to take the field under “Coach Prime” have been cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Both Hunter and Sanders followed Deion from Jackson State to Boulder in 2023.
In their two seasons in 2023 and 2024 with the Buffaloes before entering the 2025 NFL Draft, Hunter and Sanders played a big part in turning the Buffaloes from a one-win team in 2022 to a nine-win team in 2024.
Hunter’s two-way skillset had the country in awe and it led to him winning the 2024 Heisman Trophy. He was selected No. 2 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Shedeur won the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and was drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.
Now for the down side of the transfer portal. When being so reliant on the portal, many of the players on the team are essentially one-year rentals. It can be hard to get a full team of new payers on the same page when they haven’t been around together and growing in the same system.
This could have been a factor for Colorado’s disappointing 2025 season in which they went 3-9. They brought in former Liberty Flames quarterback Kaidon Salter for his final year of college football and the offense never meshed together.
