Two Former Colorado Buffaloes Celebrate Touchdown in Ravens-Vikings Game

In this story:
Two former Colorado Buffaloes players celebrated with each other during Saturday’s preseason game between the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings.
Ravens wide receiver LaJohntay Wester caught an eight-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. One of the first players to greet him in the end zone was Ravens offensive lineman Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan.
LaJohntay Western Scores Touchdown

Wester’s touchdown reception was the lone touchdown scored in the Ravens 13-3 win over the Vikings. Wester finished the game with five receptions for 24 yards and touchdown. Here’s Wester’s scoring play, celebration, and Christian-Lichtenhan coming to meet him after blocking on the play.

LaJohntay Wester began his college football career with the FAU Owls from 2020-2023 before transferring to the Colorado Buffaloes for his final season in college in 2024.
As a Buff, Wester made up an electric receiving group that was headlined by 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. Wester hauled in 74 receptions for 931 yards and 10 touchdowns. After the season, Wester entered the 2025 NFL Draft and was selected No. 203 overall in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens.

As a rookie in Baltimore in 2025, Wester was primarily used as a kick and punt returner. He had 10 kick returns with an average of 24.6 yards per return. As a punt returner, Wester had 16 returns for an average of 12.4 yards per return.
The Ravens have a new head coach and offensive coordinator this year. They hired Jesse Minter as head coach and Minter now has Declan Doyle as his offensive coordinator. It will be interesting to see if Wester is used more in the Ravens’ offense this season and not just on special teams.
Like Wester, Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan is going into his second season in the NFL. He played for Colorado from 2020-2023 before entering the portal and transferring to the Oregon State Beavers. Christian-Lichtenhan entered the 2025 NFL Draft and was not selected. He signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent shortly after.

Christian-Lichtenhan did not make the Ravens 53-man roster as a rookie in 2025 and spent the season on the practice squad. He's aiming to make the squad in his second season when the regular season kicks off.
As for other former Colorado Buffaloes players in action during Saturday's preseason slate of games, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders got the start against the Buffalo Bills. In the Browns first drive of the game, Sanders drove his team down the field on an 11-play, 65-yard touchdown drive. On this drive, Sanders went 4-for-4 passing with 43 yards and a touchdown.

He ended the game going 9-for-11 passing with 74 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Sanders finds himself in a battle with quarterback Deshaun Watson for the Browns starting job. As a rookie in 2025, Sanders started in seven games. Prior to being selected by the Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders starred at Colorado from 2023-2024.
