Deion Sanders says Colorado "Can’t get over the hump" with bowl hopes on the line

Coach Prime was honest about his team going into the final weeks of the season

Colorado took a 34-31 loss from No. 21 Arizona in stride on Saturday. It was the sixth loss in seven games for the Buffaloes, who are still in contention for the postseason but need to win out in the final two games.

What people outside of Boulder don't see on a regular basis is how much heart and soul coach Deion Sanders is pouring into the program. This was never a day one success by any stretch of the imagination and continues to be a long-term process for Coach Prime and his staff.

Sanders entered the conference room inside CU's Champion Center after the loss on Saturday looking dejected, but yet again, anyone can understand why. He openly talked about where the program stands and the struggles they're facing.

“We’re so close" is what I told the team but yet so far, We just simply, truly don’t know how to win yet." Sanders said. "Everybody is doing a phenomenal job. We just can’t get over the hump.”

Colorado looked better from previous weeks with the offensive line doing a better job protecting Shedeur Sanders. However, the result was the same with the third straight loss to a ranked team. At least the Buffs are making games interesting with the only blowout coming at Autzen to open Pac-12 play.

Sanders and the Buffs close out the regular season on the road against Washington State and No. 18 Utah. They're currently 4.5-point underdogs to a Cougars team that has lost six straight. A 'Pac-12 After Dark' special on FS1 at 10 p.m. ET on Friday.
