Deion Sanders says he doesn't buy into signal stealing

Coach Prime explains why signal stealing is worse in baseball

The Colorado Buffaloes returned from the bye week and look to regain confidence against 23rd-ranked UCLA on Saturday. Deion Sanders spent the first part of his weekly press conference asking the media what they did during the break. It lasted a few minutes before he was asked his thoughts on two related headlines in different sports. 

Sanders gave his opinion on the signal stealing allegations against the Houston Astros and Michigan football program. Coach Prime is uniquely qualified, having played in Major League Baseball and now being involved at the highest level of college football. His response was thought-provoking on several fronts and raises the question of whether it really matters at any level of football?

"Everyone is trying to get whatever edge they can," Sanders said. "You can have someone's whole game plan. They could mail it to you. You still gotta stop it. In football, it's not as pronounced as baseball. If I know a curveball is coming, I got you.

"With football, I don't give a darn, you know a sweep is coming, you still got to stop it. It's a physical game, and you still have to stop it. So, that's a little tough. I don't buy into a lot of this stuff of someone stealing this or that."

Sanders went on to explain how his Dallas Cowboys teammates ran the same series of plays but were unstoppable against most of their NFL competition. It's an outstanding take from one of the best two-sport athletes. 

The Buffs find themselves in the middle of a game week with the Bruins on the horizon. It marks the eighth consecutive sellout for Sanders' team, which is a record for home or away in CU history. The Rose Bowl event is the last scheduled trip to California for the Buffs (7:30 p.m. ET/ TV: ABC).
