The Calabasas (Calif.) two-way four-star was sold on Deion Sanders and the Buffs for a while, but decided to reverse course and decommit from the program on Saturday. Butler says opening back up his recruitment was the right thing to do
“I respect what they are doing and how they are going about doing it, I’m just seeking something different for my collegiate experience,” Butler told 247Sports.
“I wish them the best of luck on what they are building and have no doubts they will be successful. I have much love to the BuffNation and the staff. They have been nothing but supportive even before my commitment and to this day. Please respect my decision.”
Butler has grown into an exceptionally good two-way player who’s stock continues to grow. He's a shut down corner but an even more skilled receiver. He checked all the boxes for Coach Prime and would've played a similar role as Travis Hunter.
A huge loss for Colorado, who's weeks away from early Signing Day. Sanders and his staff expected Butler to be transitioning and enrolled before Spring. He recently visited Washington for the Apple Cup but also has Texas, Oregon, Arizona, USC, and Georgia on his list.
Butler is rated as a consensus top 100 recruit. He's expected to play in this year's All-American Bowl as a receiver.
