Four-star point guard Angelo Brizzi breaks down top eight schools

Angelo Brizzi released his top eight schools on Tuesday and the Colorado Buffaloes are right in the mix.

Four-star point guard Angelo Brizzi released his top eight schools on Tuesday.

And the Colorado Buffaloes made the cut.

The other schools include Arizona, Villanova, Northwestern, Michigan, Cal, Davidson and Dartmouth.

Brizzi has been one of the biggest risers during the spring evaluation period and has shot up the rankings on various sites. He's in the top 130 in the nation on both 247Sports and Rivals and is a four-star recruit on Rivals.

He broke down his top eight schools for BuffsCountry.

Cal: "They have really good academics, one of the top universities in the world for academics. They play in the Pac-12. I like (head) Coach (Mark) Fox and (assistant) Coach (Andrew) Francis and I think they are building something there."

Arizona: "Coach (Sean) Miller has done a really good job there and knows how to develop point guards. It's just a really good situation to go in if you are a point guard."

Colorado: "They obviously play in the Pac-12 and they were really good last year and just keep building up. They've had a good amount of point guards through. And (head) Coach (Tad) Boyle knows what he's doing as well. And then from the academic side, they have exactly what I'm looking for."

Michigan: “I really like their staff, (associate head) Coach (Phil) Martelli especially. Their staff is very knowledgeable. And being in the big ten, it would be extremely fun to play there. And it’s one of the top universities in the country.”

Northwestern: "(Head) Coach (Chris) Collins is building up that program. I love the campus and I just think it's a good spot."

Dartmouth: "The Ivy League is really interesting to me. I think they're making the program a little better. I think they were a little down but I think they made strides this past year. And I really liked their staff as well."

Davidson: "(Head) Coach (Mark) McKillop has been there forever and he's had a good run of guards come through. He obviously knows what he's doing and they've got tradition and everything."

Villanova: "They've been one of the top programs in the country over the last few years. They have had great point guards come through."

With a list like that, it's obvious Brizzi prioritizes academics.

"It's super important," said on how much he has been prioritizing academics. "I think the list speaks for that. I think they're all, Arizona may be questionable, but they're all pretty good academic schools."

Colorado has been heavily recruiting him since they offered back in April. One of the biggest things that stands out to the 6-foot-4 guard is Colorado's academics. Brizzi wants to major in something environmental which happens to be right up CU's alley.

"Boulder is a great place for all of the stuff related to environmental," Brizzi said. "They've got a wide variety of different majors and different things that you can study."

His lead recruiter is assistant coach Bill Grier who he has been able to build a solid relationship with over the last couple of months.

"I love him," Brizzi said. "He's awesome. He's really fun to talk to and I like him a lot."

He also stays in constant contact with Coach Boyle and recently had a zoom call with the entire staff when he got to meet new assistant coach Rick Ray.

He's a good character, he's funny," Brizzi said about Ray. "I think as far as a first impression, it's clear that he's got a good grasp of the game and everything."

Brizzi says he's still hearing from other schools that have yet to offer including Xavier, Virginia and North Carolina.

He wants to make a decision sometime in the fall because he doesn't want to flirt with the "dangers" of making a spring decision.
