CU Buffs add commit from the Tar Heel State

Tyrin Taylor, a three-star cornerback out of Cornelius (N.C.), has given the Colorado Buffaloes his word.

Tyrin Taylor has picked the Colorado Buffaloes. 

And the Buffs pick up their sixth commit for the 2021 recruiting class. 

Taylor is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound cornerback out of Cornelius (N.C.). He's rated as a three-star recruit on both Rivals and 247Sports. 

Through the recruiting process, Taylor reported over a dozen offers including three Power 5 schools.

He reported an offer from Virginia Tech just last week. 

The Buffs were able to go in a state they don't normally recruit and pull out a legitimate Power 5 recruit. 

Taylor had 26 tackles and one interception during his junior season with Hough High School.

The last time Colorado pulled a recruit out of the state of North Carolina was 10 years ago, in the 2011 recruiting class. Rashad Hall was a two-star prospect out of Oak Ridge (N.C.) that signed with the Buffaloes but had to go the JUCO route. 

Cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin has been able to identify recruits from all over the country but even it's rare for him to recruit the Tar Heel Site. 

But he has been able to build a solid relationship with Taylor since offering him on June 3. 

He has also been able to build a relationship with head coach Karl Dorrell and felt comfortable enough to give the coaching staff his verbal pledge. 

On tape, the first thing that jumps out is his incredible length. He looks to be all of 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-2 and has very long arms. 

H excels at being able to flip his hips and make a play on the ball. 

Taylor also displays good speed and a nice ability to turn and run with the receivers.
