The Colorado Buffaloes picked up a valuable commitment on Thanksgiving. Georgia four-star cornerback Kam Mikell announced he would be Boulder bound Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder chose CU over Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

Mikell has maintained a great relationship with Deion Sanders and his coaching staff since visiting Boulder earlier this year. He was one of the top uncommitted player in the 2024 recruiting class. Like Travis Hunter, Mikell plans to play as a two-way threat.

“I talk to everyone on the staff and it all seems like family, Mikell told On3 about his relationship with CU's coaches. "I am closer with Nick Williams because he was my main recruiter in the process. I would start out playing receiver and slowly in with defense.”

Mikell is a ESPN Top 150 athlete and noted as the tenth-best cornerback in next year's class. He was a region 2-AAAAAA first-team selection at quarterback. In 10 games, averaged 7.7 yards per carry, rushing for 1,083 yards and 5 TDs. He also threw for 465 yards and 7 TDs in 2021.

The approach for Mikell changed this past year, getting reps at quarterback, running back, and cornerback. He earned first-team all-region honors on defense, helping Statesboro make a return to the Peach State’s AAAAA playoffs. A total of 83 carries for 478 yards and 5 TDs in seven games this season.

Mikell joins Aaron Butler and Brandon Davis-Swain at the top end of CU's recruiting class next year.
