Duke Chosen No. 4 In Preseason AP Poll

Duke is ranked No. 4 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll.
The Blue Devils are behind No. 1 Michigan State for the first time since March 12, 2018. They trail No. 2 Kentucky for the first time since March 17 and No. 3 Kansas for the first time since Dec. 17, 2018.
This is the 21 consecutive week that Duke has been ranked in the top five, dating back to the start of last season. It’s the longest current streak in the nation. The next two longest streaks—Virginia (14) and Gonzaga (11) were both snapped with the preseason poll. Virginia is ranked No. 11 and Gonzaga No. 8.
It’s Duke’s 25 straight week in the top 10, dating back to February 2018. The streak is one week behind Gonzaga for second-longest current streak in the nation.
Duke has been ranked in the top five in the preseason poll seven straight seasons and in the top 10 for the last 12 preseason polls.
Duke is the highest-rated of four ACC teams in the top 25. Louisville is No. 5, North Carolina No. 9 and Virginia No. 11.
The Blue Devils will play two of the three teams ranked above them in the first month of the season. Duke opens with No. 3 Kansas and will travel to No. 1 Michigan State for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
