Duke Basketball Recruiting: Another Prediction for Flory Bidunga

Flory Bidunga is nearing a decision, and Duke basketball looks like the frontrunner.

Due to his off-the-charts wingspan, power, bounce, and instincts around the rim, Kokomo High School (Ind.) center Flory Bidunga could become a game-changer Duke basketball recruiting prize. Or the 6-foot-9, 220-pound rising senior could end up at one of his other three recently named finalists: Auburn, Kansas, and Michigan.

Either way, his announcement is likely near, possibly in the coming days.

Bidunga, a Congo native who sits No. 4 overall and No. 1 among big men on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, has hinted at wrapping up his recruitment by the end of July. And on Wednesday, the race's first 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction appeared, another indicator that his decision might pop up anytime.

The prediction favors the Blue Devils.

That matches the prediction from On3's Jamie Shaw in early June, just as Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer was about to host Bidunga for an official visit (his only other official visit was to Kansas in May) and enter the race with an offer. Moreover, the two Rivals FutureCast picks from the past five weeks concur.

In other words, it's looking increasingly like the battle for Flory Bidunga may be Duke's to lose.

Meanwhile, the Duke basketball recruiters have already secured commitments from two top-shelf 2024 talents in Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star Darren Harris, a sharpshooter who led Team Takeover to a Peach Jam title earlier this month and took home MVP honors, and North Meck (N.C.) five-star small forward Isaiah Evans.

Their haul ranks No. 7 in the country for the cycle, per 247Sports. The addition of Flory Bidunga would bump the Blue Devils to No. 2 with a 64.64 overall score, only 0.02 points behind archrival UNC's three-deep top-ranked collection.
