There's no doubt VJ Edgecombe is at least near the top of Duke basketball's wishlist.

In this story:

Since Thursday morning, the Duke basketball recruiters have bounced back and forth between Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C., and the Adidas 3SSB Championships about 120 miles northeast in Rock Hill.

And on Sunday, second-year Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and assistant Chris Carrawell made a somewhat telling move. They showed up courtside in Rock Hill to watch one of their most recent offer recipients in Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) small forward VJ Edgecombe, a 2024 five-star playing for Austin Rivers SE Elite this week.

Edgecombe's game didn't tip off until noon.

By being there at all, Scheyer and Carrawell sacrificed not being at Peach Jam for the highly publicized E16 title bout. That's between Nightrydas Elite, featuring Cameron and Cayden Boozer, and Maine United, boasting another prime 2025 Duke basketball target in Cooper Flagg, now in a battle with Cameron for the No. 1 ranking in the class.

Moreover, Rivals' Jason Jordan tweeted that at least one member of Scheyer's staff was on hand to see Edgecombe tally 26 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in his squad's win on Saturday night.

So with all of the above in mind, it seems safe to say that VJ Edgecombe, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound explosive playmaker who ranks No. 15 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite and reported his offer from the Blue Devils one week ago, has instantly become a priority target for Scheyer and his cohorts.

After seeing his ranking rise over 100 spots in the past few months, Edgecombe now boasts roughly two dozen offers. He hasn't revealed finalists or mentioned a timeline for his decision.
