Top-Five Duke Basketball Target Sets First Official Visits Elsewhere

In this story:
Holy Innocents Episcopal School (Ga.) power forward Caleb Wilson, who received a Duke basketball offer in June, hasn't named finalists in his recruitment.
But the 6-foot-9, 200-pound five-star, No. 4 overall and No. 3 at his position on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, has now hinted at early frontrunners by finalizing dates for his first round of official visits. And the Blue Devils are absent from that list.
On Saturday afternoon, national recruiting insider Adam Zagoria reported that Wilson will head to Tennessee next weekend, to Kentucky the second weekend in October, and to UNC the second weekend of November. Plus, he checked out Alabama two weekends ago.
Of course, there's still a chance that Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer will have an opportunity to host him in Durham this season. After all, Blue Devil recruiters were at Holy Innocents Episcopal earlier this week to check in on Wilson, per Zagoria, along with Tennessee, Missouri, Georgia Tech, and Michigan.
In other words, there's reason to believe Scheyer and his cohorts still view themselves as contenders. Moreover, it's worth pointing out that Wilson has spoken highly of the Blue Devils in several interviews, even admitting to admiring highlights of legendary Duke basketball big man Christian Laettner as a kid.

Wilson, an explosive threat around the basket who continues adding to his perimeter arsenal, is one of nine 2025 prospects holding an offer from the Blue Devils. Two others, five-star Cameron Boozer and five-star Koa Peat, are also power forwards boasting top-five composite rankings.
