Another highly-rated player from the Florida Gators 2019 signing class won't rep orange and blue at the college level after all.

Report: Gators release WR Arjei Henderson from National Letter of Intent

According to a report from Will Sammon of The Athletic, wide receiver Arjei Henderson (Fort Bend Travis HS - Richmond, TX) will be released from his National Letter of Intent and not play for the Florida Gators.

Henderson was projected as a late arrival to Florida for academic reasons, but he appears to have failed to academically qualify.

The consensus four-star prospect was one of the highest-rated signings in the Gators 2019 haul, according to multiple recruiting services. He's the fourth member of the class to not enroll, along with linebacker Diwun Black (Osceola HS - Kissimmee, FL), offensive lineman Deyavie Hammond (Lakeland HS - Lakeland, FL), and Wardrick Wilson (Miami Carol City HS - Opa Locka, FL).

Black and Hammond failed to academically qualify as well, while Wilson has been dealing with United States visa issues. Wilson can still enroll once those are cleared up, if that ends up being the case.

Henderson is the fifth member of the class to leave the program as a whole, following five-star cornerback Chris Steele's decision to transfer to the University of Southern California shortly after the spring program. Dual-threat and four-star QB Jalon Jones entered the transfer portal around the same time, following accusations of sexual battery.

Steele and Jones had originally enrolled early at Florida.

The Gators are strong at wide receiver and own arguably the deepest WR corps in the nations, so losing Henderson doesn't sting in the now.

However, the lengthy, athletic receiver was due for a large role in the near future once receivers Van Jefferson and Tyrie Cleveland graduate, as well as if any receiver were to declare early for the NFL Draft, such as Trevon Grimes or Josh Hammond.

Henderson recorded 219 receptions for 3143 yards - averaging 14.4 yards per reception - and 38 touchdowns in 32 games on varsity. There will be loads of interest for Henderson from junior colleges, and it's hard to imagine this will be the last time we hear his name at the FBS level, assuming one day he will transfer back in.
