Florida State forward Baba Miller will be entering the transfer portal, while also testing the NBA Draft waters, per Jonathan Givony of ESPN. The sophomore from Spain averaged 7.6 PPG and 4.9 RPG this season, playing in all 33 games and starting 32 of them.

It was a tumultuous experience in Miller's time in Tallahassee. When he first showed up on campus, he was dealing with shin splints that forced him to miss a lot of conditioning and practice. Then he was suspended for the first half of the 2022-23 season by the NCAA for impermissible benefits, which was essentially a plane ride and hotel paid for by an agent years before he was considering going to the US for college basketball, which was repaid after Miller and his family found out that wasn't allowed. Still, the NCAA lacked common sense in this day and age and still suspended him, originally for the entire season, but FSU fought it down to half a season. Once he returned to the court, he was playing with a bad basketball team, one that would eventually finish 9-23, that had a lot of checked-out pieces, which made it hard for him to get into a groove. Miller even dealt with a case of tonsilitis that caused him to miss time after he was eligible.

The 2023-24 season was a frustrating one for Miller and FSU fans alike. The talent was so clearly there, but it just looked like he didn't enjoy being on the court, which could be due to a lot of things, but I believe it was play style: he wanted to be on the perimeter where his talents fit best, and Florida State wanted to use him as a Jonathan Isaac-like defensive chess piece that can play both on the perimeter and down low on both ends of the floor.

Miller is the third Seminole this offseason to enter the portal, joining De'Ante Green and Primo Spears, who entered the portal about a week ago. He's also the third member of the 2022 recruiting class, with Green in the portal now and Jeremiah Bembry leaving for West Virginia last season. I'm still expecting at least one or two more names to enter the portal from FSU's side as they work on overturning this roster.
